There is very little documentation for Thankful. She is listed in secondary sources for the Crandall and Saunders families. According to them, Thankful Crandall was the daughter of Rev. Joseph and Deborah (Burdick) Crandall. Her mother died in 1697 when Thankful was a young child, leaving her father to raise two sons and six daughters. Thankful married Samuel Saunders and had one child, Thankful Saunders. That is the last mention of her. Samuel remarried in 1721, so it is assumed that Thankful died in childbirth when her daughter was born or sometime before he remarried, so between 1712 and 1721.
Thankful was born between 1685 and 1690, probably in Westerly, Rhode Island. The same book, "Elder John Crandall of Rhode Island and his Descendants," listed both of those years.[1][2]
She married Stephen Saunders and died sometime after her only child was born in 1712 and before 1721 when her husband remarried.[3]
