Notes imported from familysearch: "The father of this John Crawford was Thomas Crawford, who appears in December, 1753, in the church records of Prince Frederick Winyaw, near Georgetown, South Carolina: THE REGISTER BOOK FOR THE PARISH PRINCE FREDERICK WINYAW, pages 41 and 57. In those records, he is shown with 4 children age 11 to 4 at the time. Therefore, he could not have been this Thomas Crawford of Edgecombe County, North Carolina. The 4 year old child named William can be shown to be residing in Effingham County, Georgia in the 1790s and can be shown to have had a close family relationship, likely that of brother, to this John Crawford. Y-STR category of I2 is based on current relationships up to David Crawford II (1662-abt.1762) and Y-DNA tests taken by his descendants. It is assumed that Thomas Crawford (abt.1720-abt.1819) is the point at which this lineage should be disconnected, as Y-DNA haplogroup R1b cannot be descended from Y-DNA haplogroup I2.
