Biography

Martha was born about 1739. She is the daughter of Alexander Crawford and Mary McPHEETERS. When her parents were killed she went to live with Samuel McCutcheon and his family until she married; Samuel McCutcheon was a legal guardian for Martha.

Martha married Alexander Craig in 1780. Alexander had fought as a Capt. in the revolutionary war.

It is said that they had many children, most of whom moved west, except son Robert Craig, who died in Craigsville in 1872. [1]

Buried beside her Husband in the Old Lebanon Cemetery in Craigsville, Augusta County, Virginia.

She passed away about 1755. [1]

Other Siblings of Martha from her parents Alexander and Mary Crawford were, 6. Rebecca, wife of John Sawyers; 7. Bettie; 8. Samuel; 9. Robert; 10. Martha, who married Alexander Craig of the Little Calf Pasture; and 11. Mary, according to the Annuals of Augusta.
