Crawford-11685 and Crawford-5367 appear to represent the same person because: The National Cemetery Administration of the US. Dept. of Veterans Affairs claims that this man was born in 1750 AND served in the War of 1812:
Name: CRAWFORD, SAMUEL Sr
Rank & Branch: CONTINENTAL LINE
War Period: WAR OF 1812
Date of Birth: 1750
Date of Death: 1821
Cemetery: CRAWFORD CEMETERY
Cemetery Address: CRAWFORD CEMETERY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40206
The other Samuel Crawford profile are two different men. One fought in the Revolutionary War the other the War of 1812. So once these two men are separated, then this profile can be merged with the Samuel Crawford who fought in the Revolutionary War.
Because Sam Crawford, sr has various birth dates, there are several profiles floating around, which I'm sure we want to rid ourselves of. Some of them have Col. Crawford and Margret Brown as parents. My comment was not directed at this lovely site.
I was looking at the burial site sources, which seem incorrect, but I don't intent to raise that issue yet because not all of us have the same vocabulary and so on. Samuel Crawford is buried on his land which some people call the Crawford cemetery. The people who investigated the cemetery didn't give me a highly detailed report.
Profile 11685 is mostly incorrect and needs to come out of the system. We can and will merge it with other Samuel Crawford profile to rid ourselves of all of them.
Any profile with Col. john Crawford and Margaret Jane is contaminated with wrong info. Although Col Crawford is a real person with a real family, he is not related to Samuel Crawford-4771. Margaret Jane is a real person with real family in Ireland and American, but she is not related to Samuel Crawford-4771 even faintly.
Roger, are you saying that I have incorrect information on this profile? Samuel Crawford-5367 ? I am very desirous to keep my records correct & appreciate the heads-up. Appreciate any help and documentation you have to offer to clean up my profile. (I'm assuming there must be something wrong with this profile because you posted on it?)
It appears the merge was rejected in 2018. I did not reexamine the various Mason family wills prior to writing this reply. The Wills point to Janet (Mason) Crawford as the sister to my ancestor William Mason. Your Samuel Crawford profile has him a a Veteran of both the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. The marriage year of 1771, projects a birth year of 1751. Given this birth year I will agree this Samuel was of an age to fight in the Revolutionary War. However, for the War of 1812 he would be 60+ years old. This raises a huge red flag. More than likely this is two Samuel Crawfords made into one. So the rejected match will hold until this issue is resolved. Vic
You should take up your argument with the National Cemetery Administration. They are the US. Dept. of Veterans Affairs organization who supplied the record you don't like:
Name: CRAWFORD, SAMUEL Sr
Rank & Branch: CONTINENTAL LINE
War Period: WAR OF 1812
Date of Birth: 1750
Date of Death: 1821
Cemetery: CRAWFORD CEMETERY
Cemetery Address: CRAWFORD CEMETERY, LOUISVILLE, KY 40206
May we know the reason you decided to reject the merge? They look identical from what I can see, but then I am not an ancestry member so can not look at the sources you give. But the f-a-g and the marriage record are in the bio of the other one. Thank you Cuz' Carole
