Hannah Brown Machray was born on the 28th August 1885 In Bannockburn, Scotland, United Kingdom. She is the daughter of Robert Machray (1852–1930) and his wife Jessie Crawford (1853-1907).

Hannah died aged 74 in 1959 in Bannockburn. Scotland, United Kingdom. When she was born Queen Victoria was on the throne, she then lived through the reigns of Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII and George VI before passing just over seven years into the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

She was alive during the Boar War (1899-1902), World War One (1914-1918), the Russian Revolution (1917-1923) and World War Two (1939-1945).
