Charles William 'Bill' Crawford
Crawford]], He was born January 27, 1934 and is the son of James Crawford and Phoebe Crum. Bill grew up in Uniontown, Pennsylvania[1] along with six half-siblings; Howard, Crawford, Sarah Genevieve 'Sally' Crawford, Richard E Crawford, James Robert Crawford, Jean B Crawford, Vivian W Crawford, two siblings; Ronald E Crawford and Sandra 'Sandy' Crawford.
Bill married Esta Joanne Williams and they made their home in McKeesport, Pennsylvania and then in Uniontown, Pennsylvania.[2][3] Together they raised these two children; April Joy Crawford and Jeffrey William 'Jeff' Crawford. Bill retired from the US Postal Service as a Letter Carrier. Bill died May 19, 2019 and is buried in Sylvan Heights Cemetery, Uniontown, Pennsylvania.[4][5]
Charles William Crawford, age 86, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, died peacefully, Sunday, May 19, 2019. He was born January 27, 1933 in Uniontown, the son of James William Crawford and Phoebe Crum Crawford.
In addition to his parents, Bill was also preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald Crawford, Dick Crawford and Robert Crawford; three sisters, Sally Mahoney, Vivian Thomas and Jean Crawford.
Bill was a graduate of Uniontown High School with the class of 1950. He enlisted in the US Army during the Korean War then worked as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for thirty-eight years before his retirement and was affectionately known as Charlie. He belonged to Grace Brethren Church, National Association of Letter Carriers Local #520 (past president and a 50-year member), a charter member of the Fayette Federal Credit Union. Bill enjoyed woodworking, camping, coaching basketball and little league softball.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his loving wife Joanne Williams Crawford; son, Jeffrey William Crawford and wife Tina of Cincinnati, Ohio; daughter April Bain and husband Michael of Cincinnati, Ohio; four grandchildren, Tyler and Morgan Bain, Logan and Colin Crawford; sister, Sandra Sohyda and husband Ed of Uniontown and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Andrew D. Ferguson Funeral Home and Crematories, Inc., 80 Morgantown Street, Uniontown, Pennsylvania, where friends will be received on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 10-11 a.m., followed by a service celebrating Bill’s life with Reverend Roland Maust officiating. Interment will be private. The family wishes to thank Uniontown Healthcare and Rehab Center, Amedisys Hospice and the nurses for their compassionate care of Charles.
