Biography
Lucy Ella Bishop was born in 1880. She is the daughter of John Cresswell and Mary Eleanor Holdaway.[1] She married Matthew Godinagh in 1906 [2] (her sister Eunice had married his brother Peter Godinagh in 1905) She passed away in 1927 age 47 [3] She is buried at Alfredton Cemetery in Tararua district.[4]
Her husband then married Lucy's cousin (once-removed) Renie Holdaway -- Renie's grandmother, and Lucy's father were siblings.
Nelson Evening Mail, 12 October 1927.[5] DEATH GODINAGH. - At Alfredton, Wairarapa, Ella, beloved wife of Matthew Godinagh and second daughter of John and the late Mary Cresswell.
Pahiatua Herald, 12 October 1927.[6] OBITUARY MRS M. GODINAGH. The death occurred on Monday night of Mrs Godinagh, wife of Mr M. Godinagh, of Alfredton, in her 47th year. The deceased lady was born at Stoke. Nelson, both of her parents being Dominion born. On her marriage she came to reside at Alfredton, where she has lived ever since. For the past ten years she has not enjoyed the best of health and she had been seriously ill for the past twelve weeks. A husband and a family of four, two boys and girls, are left and they will will have the heartfelt sympathy of a wide circle of friends
