Jennie (Crittenden) Wright was a member of the Cherokee Wolf Clan.

Biography

Jennie was Cherokee.

Jennie Crittenden was born about 1772 in the Cherokee Nation IEast) to Nannie Downing, a Cherokee and a white man named Crittenden. [1] Although James Hicks suggests she was a member of the Wolf Clan there is no documentation to support that claim. Jennie married Jack Wright, a white man who was reportedly adopted by the Wright family. He was born about 1760. According to legend, they found him after a storm on the beach in South Carolina leashed to a spar. The only audible word they could make out was "Jack". He then became jack Wright.[2] Jennie and Jack lived at HIghtower (now Georgia) and were the parents of ten children, Sallie, Lydia, Mary CLarissa, William, Melvina, Rebecca, Eli, Delilah, and Cornelius. [3] John and Jennie emigrated to Indian Territory as "Old Settlers" about 1831, travelling in the B.F. Curry detachment; the listing shows a man and a woman both over 50 and one male 25-49. [4] Jennie's death date is unknown but she is believed to have died about 1832. She does not appear on the 1851 Old Settler roll.

Children of JENNIE CRITTENDEN and JACK WRIGHT are:

Crittenden-42 and Crittenden-786 appear to represent the same person because: Although Crittenden-42 was created first, Crittenden-786 has the most information.
