Rachel Crofut, daughter of Josiah Crofut and Sarah Benedict, was named in her father's 1764 probate distributions, and in the distribution of her mother's estate in 1787.[1]
She was referred to as the wife of Ebenezer Taylor.[1]
During the American Revolution, Danbury, Connecticut, was used as a supply base. In 1777, British forces made a raid. Much of the town was burned to the ground, and many of the records in Danbury, were destroyed, leaving large gaps in our genealogical knowledge.
