Texas Death Index, 1903-2000 about Vivian Smith

Name: Vivian Smith Death Date: 17 Aug 1974 Death County: Nueces Gender: Female Marital Status: Widowed

She was married 2x to James Kelley and to Joe Payne. She may have married The father of Ruth... But i have no Record of this . First to James Kelley and they had my Grandmother- Gladys Mae Kelley. Then, possibly but Not certainly, so THAT'S why it's Not included in the numerical listing, to Joseph Manshaw, who came into the marriage with a daughter from his previous marriage. The Daughter´s name was Ruth Manshaw. Apparently, Joe Manshaw´s first wife, up and left him and their daughter. Joe seemed to think this was a good idea... and decided to do the same, with Vivian, and up and left her, with his daughter Ruth and her own daughter from James Kelley- Gladys.

Then, Vivian married J. J. "Cowboy Joe" Payne. He adopted both girls, under his Surname- Payne. J.J. "Cowboy Joe" Payne passed away.

She Never remarried as "SMITH" this was a name Change Suggestion/Alias, from her daughter Gladys, After The Passing of Joe J. Payne.

She is listed as Widowed in her death record.

I´ve also been told, Vivian sang in a Church Choir, too!

Found in a 1930 Census in Winchester Village, Adams Co., Ohio: Jo J. Payne aged 58, Vivian aged 27, Gladys age 9 (the Census was in April Gladys had birthday in Summer.), Ruth age 8. Sources: Things my Mother has told us. There is a marriage record, from Manistee, Michigan attached to the "Sources", as well as, a photo of the digital record of her Birth in Ohio Births, from Ancestry.com.
