Biography

Loren married Nellie Mea Cronk the daughter of Charles and Mary Hall Cronk of Vermontville, Michigan on August 25, 1903. Nellie Mea was born September 17, 1879 in Eaton County, Michigan. Nellie died on May 17, 1944 at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, Michigan. Loren and Nellie lived in Vermontville, Michigan until after their second son Fred was born. They moved to Carmel, Eaton County, Michigan, before their third child Edwin was born. By 1914 they had moved to Castleton Township, Barry County, Michigan where their last three children were born.

OBITUARY

MRS. NELLIE MAY FOOTE, the eldest child of CHARLES and MARY CRONK of Vermontville, was born on Sept. 17, 1879 at Vermontville, where she spent the days of her childhood and also received her education. She was taken suddenly ill on Tuesday, May 16, and passed away the next day, Wednesday, at 2 P.M. at Pennock hospital at the age of 64 years and 8 mos.

She was united in marriage to LOREN FOOTE in Charlotte, Aug. 25, 1903, and they made their home with her parents in Vermontville until 1921 when they moved into Barry county. To this union seven children were born, Floyd, Fred, Edwin, Robert, Ruth, Lucille and Lawrence. The family has resided in Hastings for the last 23 years.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, LOREN FOOTE of Hastings; two daughters, MRS. CLARENCE CURTIS of Grand Ledge and MRS. GORDON GRAY of Hastings; five sons, FLOYD, FRED, EDWIN and ROBERT of Hastings and LAWRENCE of Great Lakes Naval Training school, Chicago, Ill; nine grandchildren and a number of cousins, besides a host of friends and neighbors.

She was a good wife and mother and a faithful friend to all who were in need. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Services were held at Leonard chapel Saturday afternoon, May 20 at 2 P.M., with burial in Riverside cemetery, the Rev. B.J. Adcock officiating.
