Biography

Jacob was baptized on April 23, 1737, in the First Reformed Church of Tarrytown, Westchester County, New York, son of [Elyas Tunnis] Theunis Cranckheyt and Antje (Van Texel / Tassel) Cranckheyt. [1]

On December 4, 1755 in the Rumbout Presbyterian Church in Duchess County,New York, Jacob married Anna Ferguson, born 1736/37 in Philips Burgh, Westchester County. [2]

Children of this marriage are:

  • Alchee Cronkhite, born 1760, died 1848;
  • Stephen Cronkhite, born 1756, married Catharine Freeman, born 1757;
  • Jacob Cronkhite, born 1758, died 1849;
  • Phebe Cranckheit, born 1758
  • Anna Cronkhite, born 1764;
  • John Cronkhite, born 1765;
  • Merrian Cronkhite, born 1784
