Biography

Need to sort the different men named Bela Cropper.
Bela Cropper
Rev. Bela W. Cropper
and the Bela Cropper Sr. & Bela Cropper, Jr. both living 1820 in Henry County, KY

NATHANIEL CROPPER (aka Nathaniel Crapper) was born about 1730. [1] However, this linked record indicates Nathaniel was born in 1703.[2]

He is given as married to Mary Tull, daughter of George Tull and Hannah Noble.[3] A son of Nathaniel and Mary was Noble Cropper,[4] who was probably named using his grandmother's maiden name.

Nathaniel Crapper [sic] wrote his will 25 October 1786 in Worcester County, Maryland. It was probated 7 April 1787 in Worcester County, Maryland.[5] Apparently Nathaniel's wife, Mary, was deceased.

Nathaniel's will named sons: Ruben, Noble, Levi, dec'd with orphaned son Nathaniel; Bela; and daughter, Mary. He also names grandson, Henry, who appears to be son of Bela according to the will. He named Mary Killum as granddaughter. Relationship of others named is unknown: Nancy Killum, Stephen Crapper, & Sarah Russell. Son, Ruben Crapper, is named as executor of his will.[6]

Nathaniel passed away 1786-1787. [7][8] This record [9] incorrectly gives his death date as 1758, however, within the context the correct information is given.

He names these children in his will:

1. Ruben Crapper/Cropper
2. Noble Crapper/Cropper[10] married Eleanor unknown.
3. Levi Crapper/Cropper
..a. Nathaniel Crapper/Cropper
4. Bela Crapper/Cropper b about 1753 Worcester County, MD; married about 1791 to Sarah Walker (b circa 1770); died 1831 in Henry County, Kentucky. [11]

5. Mary Crapper/Cropper

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Nathaniel by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Nathaniel:

How confident is this parentage? The will of Ebenezer Crapper (Cropper) doesn't mention a son named Nathaniel. A living child would generally have been left at least the token bequest of a Shilling Sterling.

I went to check the ginngriffithobrien family tree link (footnote 2), and the link is broken. There is a new site https://ginngriffithobrienfamilytree.blogspot.com/ but it doesn't have anything for Croppers other than a tag.

Then there is a second source. Edmund Crapper or Cropper's will written 1746 and proved 1753.Edmund was old enough to be a grandfather. Mentions a brother Nathaniel and also nephews Nathaniel and Edmund. Edmund may be a brother of Ebenezer and Cropper-55 may actually be the son of a 3rd brother named Nathaniel?
