Biography

Eli Crosby was born in 1750 in Massachusetts. [1]

He is mentiooned in his father's will. He was living in Dutchess, New York in 1800. [2] This is the same area the Crosby family settled, David Crosby and Reliance Hopkins.

He died on 22 November 1827. [3]

Personal Statement

First cousin to Enoch Crosby, who was "The Spy" in the novel of the same name. I have an artifact carved from walnut by Eli Crosby, handed down through fathers to sons. It is a fishing spindle (holds line wrapped around it, with a hole into which the hook is fastened).
