Biography

Increase Crosby (1712-1730) was the youngest of 13 known children of Simon Crosby and Mary Nickerson.

He was baptized in Harwich parish church (later the First Parish Church in Brewster), on February 12, 1711/12 . The transcription of the chronological church record reads: "Simon CROSBEY's Son Increase baptized 24 Feb 1711/12". [1]

Given that he was 18 years old when he died in Boston, Increase may well have been a student at Harvard University when he died. His grandfather [Crosby-115|Thomas Crosby] had studied theology at Harvard in the 1650s.

Increase is buried in Boston's old Granary Burial Ground, gravesite #655, near his grandfather. [2]

The inscription reads: |Here Lyes Ye Body |Of Increase Crosby |Son to Mr Simon |and Mrs Mary |Crosby of Harwich |Aged 18 Years. |Died June Ye |11 1702.
