According to the census reports, passenger lists, etc. that I've found, Edward arrived in New Orleans in 1853. He was a bricklayer. His son William was also a bricklayer. His wife and children followed the next year. My great-grandfather, Robert Lee and his sister Virginia were born in the US. They were twins. Robert Lee was a stone mason. Some hints came from relatives and the official census reports and the marriage documentation (St George Hanover Square, London) from Ancestary.com. Shelby County records were also very helpful. My grandmother also had a scrapbook with obituaries and announcement clipping from the local newspapers.
