Biography

John Crouch's birth was registered in the March quarter of 1851 in the Lambeth district of, Surrey, England^[1]

He was baptised in Kennington on 4 May 1851, his birth was entered in the register as 6 December 1850. The family were living in Durham Street, Lambeth and his father was employed as a merchants clerk. ^[2]

He appears age 0 in the 1851 Census, living with his parents in Lambeth, Surrey, England. ^[3]

In 1861, John age 10, is living in Lambeth Surrey, England with his parents and siblings. ^{[4] [5]}

He is 22, and a Clerk in the 1871 census. Still living with his parents, but now at Camberwell, Surrey. ^[6]

In 1881 he is boarding at Colls Road, Camberwell. Age 30, he is a Clerk - Carriers. ^[7]

John married Zillah Fletcher in Camberwell in 1881. ^[8] Sadly Zillah passed away the following year in Lambeth, ^[9], as did their daughter Zillah May, who was only a few months old. ^[10]

In 1891, John was shown as a widower, age 40, and working as a cashier for a general carrier company ^[11]

In 1901, John was lodging with the Bate family at 34, Eastlake Road, Lambeth, he was 50 years old, a widower, and employed as a carman's clerk. ^[12], and he was with the same family in 1911, boarding with them at 10 Barrington Road, Lambeth. He was employed as a cashier for a carrier. ^[13]

John passed away in Lambeth in 1926, he was 76 years old. ^[14]
