Biography

Kathy was Choctaw.

Catherine Crowder was born in Mississippi about 1823 to Eli White Crowder and Margaret Durant. She is Choctaw through her mother.

She married Charles Bench about 1845. Children of Catherine and Charles:

  1. Daniel Tucker Bench 1847–Deceased
  2. Possible Chris Bench
  3. Possible Margaret Bench

According to testimony of her son Danial Tuck Bench before the Dawes Commission the family left the Old Country and moved to Indian Territory when he was just a few months old. The family consisted of the parents and two sons, including himself.

She died about 1868 in the Choctaw Nation, Indian Territory, United States.
