Biography

George was born in 1890 between June and September, in Limber , birth registered in nearby Caistor ^[1].

The census of 1891 has the family living in Great Limber. The family consisted of:

Samuel Crowe, grocer, aged 37 born Gt. Limber

Charlotte Crowe aged 35 born Lincoln

George H Crowe aged 1 born Gt. Limber

The census of 1901 has the family living at 25 Phelps St, Cleethorpes, Lincs. The famioly consisted of:

Samuel C Crowe, retired grocer aged 47

Charlotte Crowe aged 45

George Henry Crowe aged 11

The 1911 Census has a family Crowe living at 25 Phelps Street Cleethorpes Lincs, with a son George Henry Crowe, aged 21, birthplace Limber, Lincs, occupation Law Clerk. Given that the dates fit, and that Limber is in the registration district of Caistor, a tentative identification is being made, and parents added.

He married May Neil in 1913 ^[2]

At the time of the 1911 Census, George's occupation was Law clerk ^[3]

In the 1939 England & Wales register George (born Caistor, Grimsby 17 March 1890) was staying at 115 Valley Drive, Harrogate with occupation "Solicitor".  There were 15 people staying there with a variety of surnames, some the same so presumably it was a guest house/hotel.  

He died in 1952 and is buried alongside his first wife, May at St Giles' Church, Scartho, Lincolnshire
