Biography
Stephen was born 14 May 1824, in Dennis, Massachusetts. He is the son of Stephen Crowell and Mehitable Small. [1]
On 22 December 1844, Stephen married Lydia Ann (Mecarta) Crowell (1827-1849) in Harwich, Massachusetts.[2]
Stephen's wife Lydia died in 1849. Stephen married Ruth Small, daughter of Paddock Small and Polly Phillips, and widow of Zidon Butler, on 14 March 1850, in Harwich, Massachusetts.[3]
In 1860, the family is living in Harwich, Massachusetts. Stephen is a mariner.[4]
