Private Jennings Crowell enlisted on December 1, 1862 to serve in the Civil War. He served for the state of Georgia an was enlisted in Company E, Georgia 9th Infantry Battalion. He mustered out on May 6, 1863 and transferred to Company H, Georgia 37th Infantry Regiment. He did not survive the war and died in Rock Island, Illinois on February 7, 1864.
He married Ann Reid in Montgomery County, North Carolina on November 1, 1827. They had eight children together.
He is buried in the Rock Island Confederate Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois (Grave #397).
