Biography

Abigail Crowell was born in 1715, the daughter of Paul Crowell and Elizabeth Hallett of Yarmouth, Barnstable, Massachusetts[1] [2] [3]

In 1737, she married Joseph Collins was born 14 Aug 1713, the son of John Collins and Hannah Doane of Eastham, Barnstable, Massachusetts[1] [4] [5] Their children included:

  1. Hallett, born June 1, 1738[6], who died in 1758
  2. Ruth, born October 25, 1739[7] [4], who died in 1755
  3. Joseph, born November 5, 1741[8] [4][9], who married Desire Parker on October 11, 1764
  4. Benajah, born October 29, 1743[10] [4] [9], who married Susannah Tracy, March 29, 1770
  5. Stephen, born 31 Oct 1745[11] [4] [9]; and who died 22 Feb 1793, Liverpool (Age 47 years)[1]
  6. Hallett, born June 10, 1748[12] [9], , who married Rhoda Peck on April 7, 1771 and then married Martha Freeman, and who died 3 Jun 1831, Liverpool[1]
  7. Enos, born June 1, 1750[13] [9]
  8. John, born March 21, 1752[14] [9]
  9. Paul, born March 27, 1754[15] [9], who married Hannah Parker on July 17, 1780, and then married Martha Smith
  10. Peter, born August 10, 1756[16] [9], who married Mary Cheever on March 15, 1788

Joseph and Abigail Collins emigrated to Nova Scotia in 1759, and were among the first proprietors of Liverpool, Nova Scotia[18] [19]. They and their family are also mentioned in various passages in Simeon Perkins Diary[9]

Abigail (Crowell) Collins died May 11, 1788, and is buried in the Congregational Burial Ground, Liverpool, Queens Co., N.S[1] [9] [20] [21]
