Margaret was the sixth child of Robert Culbert and Margaret Downey. She grew up with eight siblings on a farm in Innisfil, Simcoe County, Ontario. [1]
On August 18, 1909, she married Joseph D. Rodgers in Toronto, Ontario. [2] In 1911 they lived in Simcoe County, Ontario, with Joseph's four children.[3]
