Excerpt: Adam's Obituary as written by Rev. Jacob Singer, Pastor of Bethel Evangelic Lutheran Church in Knox, Ohio. Reverend Singer also preached the funeral sermon.
Following his death, the following obituary notice appeared in the Lutheran Observer, which was the official paper of the denomination. It was written by Adam's pastor, it read, "Died, on the sixth day of November, AD 1865, in the 68th year of his life, Adam Culp, Senior of Knox Township, Jefferson County, Ohio."[28]
His obituary continued as follows:
Baltzer Culp, the father of the deceased, emigrated from Hanover, in the Province of Hanover, near the close the last century, and settled in Virginia. In A.D. 1799, the family moved into the Ohio Territory where the deceased spent the last 60 years of his life. His father Baltzer, being a pious member and a deacon of the church, and consecrated to God, was a devoted officer and elder in the church for more than forty years.[29]

↑Tombstone Inscriptions & Family Records of Jefferson County, Ohio. Ester Powell, Aug 1964. Note: Powell records the note "Soldier" after Adam's record. Skip Hunter visited his tombstone and could not see where it was indicated that he was a soldier, but speculates that it could have faded away. However, I believe it is an artifact carried down from the line above on the transcript.
