Biography

1st wife Lucy: had 3 sons and 1 daughter

"He enlisted in the army as captain of Co. E, 26th Reg't Mich. Vol. Inf., in August, 1862, and was wounded in the right arm at Windsor, Va., and died therefrom, May 23, 1863. His widow resides in Ann Arbor, Mich. Two of his sons by his first wife were with him in the army. Stephen died in Carver Hospital, Washington, July 23, 1863, and Lupton, the oldest, contracted a chronic disease, was discharged May 24, 1864, and died March, 1865. Another son by the first wife lives in Mason, Mich., and the daughter, Mrs. Maria VanHorne, lives in Hamburg, Mich."
