But Service record shows "Commissioned an officer in. Enlisted in Company K, North Carolina 26th Infantry Regiment. Mustered out on 26 July at Petersburg, VA. Promoted to Full 2nd Lieutenant."

A John B Parker, Jr. is asking to be administrator in 1882 after the death of Joel's father in 1880. Joel Curlee's affairs have evidently not been concluded for 20 years. The letter mentions that the applicant (John Parker) is a son-in-law of the deceased and the widow gave up her right to administer so he believes. There is still land lying on Richardson Creek belonging to the estate.
He names people who are considered heirs and entitled to a portion of the proceeds. Eliza Curlee, the widow of Joel Curlee. Sophronia Smith wife of M. M. Smith, residing in Iredell County. N.C.. Araminta Edwards, wife of Henry Edwards, they recide in Union County., N.C.. Carolina Parker, wife of this applicant. Rosa C. Griffin, wife of J. L. Griffin. Laura R Staten, wif of T. L. Staten. All of these reside in Union County, except Mrs. Parker and her husband, your applicant.
The letter of application is dated January 27th 1882.
The application was accepted on the 27th day of January A.D. 1882.
So there are named five daughters and their husbands names.
