Biography

There was a Harbour Island marriage between Amelia Curry and William Roberts June 21 1796. St John's Marriage Records. Was there an error when Harllee printed Amelia Russell? See Birth Record attached to this record.Morley-555 22:33, 23 April 2014 (EDT)

Mentioned in her father's will, which was proved 7 June 1809 after the death of mother Jemima. The following children were listed: Fanny Albury; Amelia Roberts; Martha Sawyer; Mary Roberts; Rhoda Curry; Richard Curry; Sarah Russell; Susannah Curry (who married Mr. McKenzie).

Fanny Curry Albury; Amelia Curry Roberts; Martha Curry Sawyer; Mary Curry Roberts; Rhoda Curry; Richard Curry; Sarah Curry Russell; and Susannah Curry (who married Mr. McKenzie) were listed in the will of their father Richard, which was written in 1800. It was proved in 1809 shortly after the death of their mother.[1]

Did Amelia Curry Roberts marry for a second time - to Samuel Kemp (1772-1860)? Note from MZ: Trees at ancestry.com confirmed by DNA matches indicate that indeed, Amelia Curry Roberts married Samuel Kemp.

Please Note

The ancestry of the Curry family in the Bahamas continues to challenge genealogists. With this tree, I am hoping we can untangle some of our confusion by restoring the early 18th century Bahamian Currys to the family tree. (As you know, Harllee, in his genealogy "Kinfolks", believed that the Curry families all descended from Loyalist brothers who emigrated from the southern US in the 1780s.)

PLEASE DON'T ADD DATA if it is sourced to "Kinfolks" before 1800.

PLEASE ADD DATA if it can be sourced to Bahamian parish records or other primary sources.

It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Amelia by comparing test results with other carriers of her mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known mtDNA test-takers in her direct maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Amelia:
