Sir Thomas Curwen (d. 1522),[1]was the son of:

  • Christopher Curwen
  • and Anne Pennington.

According to Jackson (1880), Thomas married twice.[2]

Occupation

During the reign of Henry VIII, Thomas was Sheriff of Cumberland in 1509 and 1517.[2][10]

Death

Thomas died in c. 1522, (34 Hen VIII).[2][1][3][11][12][13]

Notes

  • Lewis (2020), does not indicate that Thomas took a second wife. More research is needed to confirm jackson's (1880) claim.

  9. Giles pedigree in Visitation of Lancashire, does not assert that he's a son of this Thomas, but it does say he descends from the Curwens of Workington. O'Hart's (1892), pedigree does not mention Giles either.[2] It's actually his grandson, the antiquarian and historian William Camden, who writes in Britannia that Giles' dau. Elizabeth descended from the Culwens of Galloway.
