Biography

Persis Doggett/Daggett was born May 1704. She was baptized at the First Church in Marshifield, Plymouth, Massachussetts Bay on June 4, 1704. She is the daughter of Thomas Doggett and Experience Ford.[1]

The Marshfield Town Records reports that on

May 13, 1717, Persis Doggett and others have liberty to banister up the hind seat of the womens end gallery and to set therein.[1]

In 1718 her grandfather's will left her with two ewe sheep.[1]

She married Benjamin Kent on October 31, 1723 in Marshfield.[1][2] Their children were:

  1. Penelope Kent was born on July 9, 1724 in Marshfield.[3]
  2. Persis Kent was born about 1730 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachussetts.
  3. Elizabeth Kent
  4. Nathaniel Kent
  5. Bathsheba Kent
  6. Joseph Kent
  7. a second Joseph Kent
  8. John Kent

Her husband Benjamin, a sea captain, died in or near Jamaica in 1748.

According to "A history of the Doggett-Daggett Family", Persis was not the daughter of Samuel Doggett rather the granddaughter of his brother John and daughter of John's son Thomas. References have been added and the bio changed to reflect this information but Samuel and his wife are still connected. John is already on WikiTree but a profile for Thomas needs to be found or created and then linked to Persis and John.
