DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with Mayhew by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA.
However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line.
It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Mayhew:
I think that the problem with the Mayhew name can be cleared up with the Stanley Bradlee Doggett Genealogy "History of the Doggett / Daggett Family and the Supplement by George and Stanley Daggett regarding the John Doggett of Martha's Vineyard line.
John's son Thomas married Hannah Mayhew, they had a son named Deacon John and Sara (Pease) Daggett, they had 9 children two of them, Thomas 1684 - 1778 m. 1st Sarah Stanley / 2nd Elizabeth Blake, and Captain Mayhew m. Joanna Biven.
Thomas and Elizabeth had a son named Mayhew b. 1630 who married Esther Atwater.
Captain Mayhew and Joana had a son named Elihu.
Elihu and Joana's firstborn son was named Mayhew, he was born in 1635. He married Martha Newell and had 5 daughters.
The reference listed as being Mayhew Daggett in the census of 1800 for Washington County, Territory Northwest of the River Ohio and the Population Census 1803 Washington County, Ohio I find almost impossible to be my Mayhew Daggett of Dutchess, Greene, Saratoga & Schenectady Counties in New York. In his Revolutionary War Application he stated all of the places he lived in since his discharge from the Army. This reference needs more proof before I except this as fact. I have no idea who the man is in the 1800 & 1803 Census of Ohio.
This may be clearer than the email I sent;
