Biography

Ynglingasaga

Legendary wife of Halfdan the Mild, daughter of Dag of Westmare, the district round Langesund Fjord. She is the only wife mentioned for Halfdan the Mild in the Ynglinga Saga so presumably meant to be mother of Gudrod the Hunter. [1]

Liv var datter af kong Dag i Vestmar. Hans hovedgård lå på Holtan i Vestfold; dér døde han af sygdom, og han er højlagt på Borre. Således siger Tjodolf:

Elskovsting
den tredje konge
kaldtes til
hos Kvedrungs datter;
Halvdan nød
da norners dom
— han som på
Holtan bo’de.
På Borre
blev Budles slægtning
siden lagt

Notes

Alfarin of Alfheim is not credited with any wives in the Ynglinga Saga. He only has one entry which makes him father of Alfhild [2]
Detached as wife of Olaf Halfdansson to facilitate merge of duplicates. She can be reattached if a source for her marriage to Olaf is found. C 14 August 2018
Liv (Hlif) of Westmare only has one entry in Ynglinga Saga. She was the daughter of Dag of Westmare and wife of Halfdan the Mild. No mother is mentioned. Have removed marriage to Eystein Glumra as they can easily be reattached should any evidence be forthcoming. C 14 August 2018
Have removed Helga Eriksdottir as mother as no mother in mentioned in Ynglinga Saga. She can easily be reconnected should any evidence be forthcoming.C 15 August 2018

She was the daughter of king Dag of Westmare.

Liv married Halvdan Milde og mat-ille, son of Öystein Halfdansson and Hild Eriksdatter. (Halvdan Milde og mat-ille was born in 763, died in 802 and was buried in Borre, Vestfold, Norway.)

Hlif Dagsdatter was NOT the wife of Alfarin Eysteinsson. She was wife of Halfdan the Mild. Detaching so that she can be merged with the other duplicate Livs

Dagsdatter-23 and Dagsdatter-19 appear to represent the same person because: Hlif (Liv) of Westmare, daughter of Dag of Westmare married Halfdan the Mild. No otherLiv/Hlif is recorded in Ynglinga Saga. Dates should be disregarded as they are guestimates. Please keep one dob for the present to maintain pre-1500 protecton.
