Biography

Sture was born in 1898. He was the son of Albert Dahlström and Nelly Persdotter.[1]

Educated & confirmed in Sweden; Immigrated to Moline, IL, 1915; foreman at Minneapolis-Moline Power Implement Co. from 1915; brothers Berner, Harry, and Einar all in Skåne; sister Anna in Tjörnarp, Skåne; last address: 2323 11th St, Moline. No children An aunt, who visited Sweden, wanted to bring Sture to America when he was 13 years old. Dad said no. But when I was 17 he went with me to Copenhagen and bought me a ticket...We were stopped on the North Sea by a German submarine and had to stay in the same spot for two days. They boarded and searched all of us. Having arrived in Moline, Sture started to work at Moline Plow, where he became a foreman. He was never laid off, not even during the Depression. My aunt and her family moved to Florida, but I stayed. I lived in Dixon a couple of years. He was alutheran and member of lodges belonging to Vasa IOGT, and Odd Fellows. [2] He passed away in 1992.[3]

Married to Ethel Marie Carlsson, born 16 Sep 1911, East Huntington, Pennsylvania, died 3 Jan 1996, Moline, Illinois. She was daughter of Claus S. Carlsson (1877-1969) and Anna Andersson.
