Last Will & Testament
- The will of Robert Dale in Pr. William Co. dated 7 February 1778 names wife Elizabeth, Robert Dale son of Reuben Dale, Lilley Dale daughter of brother Thomas Dale, Abraham Dale, Lucy Smith, 160 ac. where I now give to Luke Hanks after death of wife Elizabeth, rest of estate that is not already devised equally divided between William Dale, Luke Hanks and Isaac Dale and their heirs…after my wife’s decease.
Luke Hanks, Jr.'s wife, Nancy Dale, was the daughter of ROBERT DALE AND ELIZABETH HANKS of Prince William county.
Soon after Robert Dale's death and his estate was probated, his widow Elizabeth Hanks Dale married Thomas Evans. In May of 1784, Luke Hanks, Elizabeth's son-in-law, deeded his remainder man's interest in the 160 acres to Thomas Evans for 'the sum of L 50 current money of Virginia'
