  • A source for when Margaret and Asa were married, and where?
  • Does anyone have any more solid information about Margaret?
  • Does anyone have any more information about Asa's mother, Sarah Snyder Dalrymple?

Biography

Asa and Margaret were the parents of 14 children.

The 1850 US Federal Census shows Asa, Margaret, and 6 children (Sarah, Thomas, Susan, Jacob P., Catharine Ann, and Mary) were living in Delaware Township, Hunterdon County, NJ. Their son Asa appears to be listed underneath them on the census in the Asher Cronce household.

By the 1860 US Federal Census, Margaret had died and Asa moved in with Asa Jr. and Sarah, in Raritan Township, Hunterdon Co., NJ. It also lists 3 of Asa Jr. and Sarah's children (Charity R., Henry B., and Sarah E.), and a Joseph Smith (age 17).

He does not appear on the 1870 Census. The 1880 Census again lists him as living with Asa Jr. and Sarah, along with Henry and Mary.

He is buried, next to his wife, in Lower Amwell Cemetery, The Old Yard, Sergeantsville, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, USA.

However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with Asa:
