The household included John T. Dalrymple, 33, a railroad engineer; his wife, Lucinda, 22; daughters Emeline, 6; and Laura A., an infant. Also living with them was William Sprague, 36, a boarder, and railroad worker.[1]
In 1900, the Dalrymple family lived in their rented house in Dover, Morris, New Jersey. All were born in New Jersey. The parents and two eldest daughters could read and write. The household included John T. Dalrymple, 54, born July 1845, a locomotive engineer; his wife of 30 years, Lucinda, 51, b. July 1848, who had had seven children, four of whom were living; their four children, Emeline E., 26, b. July 1873; Laura G., 20, b. May 1880, a dry goods saleslady; and twins, b. November 1892, John T. and Charles, 7.[2]
