Well known Citizen of Canadian side succumbs to Malady at Memorial Hospital
Niagara Falls Ont., September 8 - On Saturday evening the death of Fred W. Dalton, youngest son of Mr. Frank Dalton, senior, of Portage road, Niagara Falls South, occurred at the Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls, N.Y., after an illness of ten days from typhoid fever.
The deceased has spent his whole life in this city and his death at the age of 46 years is deeply deplored among a wide circle of friends and acquaintances.
Mr. Dalton at one time carried on a grocery business at the corner of Ferry and Seventh streets, after having been for years chief clerk in his brother's establishment at the corner of Ferry and Main streets, and where he received his business training. He leaves beside his sorrowing wife, and aged father and mother, two brothers, Frank E. of Toronto and Charles of Portage road and two sisters, Mrs. Hattie West of Sault Ste. Marie, and Mrs. (Alice) Alex Gray Jr., of this city. He was a member of the Woodsme of the World and Electric City New Order of Owls.
The funeral will take place at 2 p.m. tomorrow, September 5th, from his late residence No. 751 Ferry street to Drummond Hill cemetery, Rev. Dr. Williamson, paster Lundy's Lane Methodist Church officiating. Source: Niagara Falls (NY) Gazette, Monday September 8, 1913.

September 9, 1913 - Frederick W. Dalton in his 47th year died at the Memorial Hospital, Niagara Falls, NY, September 6, 1913. Cause of death Typhoid fever and was brought to Mr. Morse's for to be be taken care of and then to his home on Ferry St. and was buried from there at 3 o'clock in the Drummond Hill Cemetery in his Father's lot No. 481. We cemented the ruff box in to keep it good and arched the top with cement and lined the grave with park lining. A nice funeral and day. Quite cool. Five floral designs. Pillar Cross (with Freedom) by Mr. & Mrs. L. Potter, Anchor by Mrs. J. Alexander & bunch of pink roses by Mrs. Harry James Cowie. All was very nice and wreath from sister Alice. His father was 83 past. Blind but walked to the grave from the carriage and his mother was with him. Quite smart. Her sight was pretty good. Rev. Dr. Williamson officiated, Methodist. Undertaker - Mr. George Morse. Assistant - Harry Graybeil. Andrew Climenhage, Sexton. Opening grave $3.00 paid. $5.00 cementing.[2]
