Biography

There are numerous records with the name William Dalton, with varying birth dates. All are located in Virginia. There is a birth record that states birth date of 1746 with parents being Samuel Dalton and Ann Dandridge Redd. The marriage record states marriage of William Dalton and Rachel Harris in 1759, with birth date of William as 1741 and the birth date of Rachel of 1744.

According to a letter of grandson Samuel Dowell, dated March 26, 1871, William was 18 and Rachel Harris was 14 when they married and they raised 14 children. He died at age 65 and she lived to be very old. Both died in Tennessee.[1]
