Biography

Mary Falder was born on 10 February 1845 in Penrith, Cumberland. She was the daughter of Jonathan Falder (1816-1880) and Sarah Jane (Dalton) Falder (1820-1865). She died in 1899.

She travelled to Australia from Liverpool on the Hope, with her mother and siblings in 1862 to join her father Jonathon Falder, a miner at Tarnagulla, arriving off Williamstown, where the family were met by her older brother. She left a diary of the journey.
