Biography

John was the son of John Dalton and Bridget McElvoy, he was born at St Annes Druidtown, NSW.[1] As a young man he went to Queensland to make his fortune. He returned to Concord and married his childhood love Ellen Mary Murphy in 1875[2], she was 16 years old.. They had 10 children, three of whom had died before John's death.

Ellen died in 1909 at the age of 49 years and a couple of years later John remarried. His second wife was Mabel Jessica Waite. They had 8 children. John was a grazier and farmer. He bred stud short-horn cattle and thoroughbred horses.

John died in 1929 in Queensland from pneumonia. He was 74 years[3]

His extensive obit reveals some of the successful ventures of his life[4]
