Elizabeth Spotswood Dandridge was born on September 12, 1764 in Hanover County, Colony of Virginia, daughter of Nathaniel West Dandridge (1729–1786) and Dorothea Spotswood (1733–1773).

Elizabeth (19) married Philip Payne (23) (born on March 29, 1760 in St James Northam Parish, Goochland County, Colony of Virginia; son of Colonel John Payne and Jane (Smith) Payne) on November 13, 1783. Their children were:

Elizabeth died on April 26, 1833 in Hanover County, Virginia, United States, aged 68.
