In 1880, Katharine was living with her sister and brother-in-law, Edward and Sarah Dorsey. In 1898, she was listed as a living child in her father's certificate for the next quarterly payment of his U.S. Pension for service in the Civil War. The certificate is dated, specifically, June 4, 1898.
