Edwin Harris Darling was born in 1839 in Calais, Washington County, Maine to Lucy Sargent Darling. Timothy Darling raised Edwin Harris Darling but indications in Timothy Darling's will (and a DNA test) suggest that he was not, in fact, Edwin's father.
J Rice, Town Clerk recorded Edwin's birth: "Edwin Harris, son of Timothy and Lucy Darling born in Calais JANY 28 1838."

A law student. Admitted to the NY Bar in the spring of 1861. Moved to Boston.
For a brief time he was editor of the Charlestown Chronicle. Bail Commissioner of Suffolk county for a decade. In 1883 appointed Master of Chancery.
Married twice:
1. Julia Finley Kinney - marriage date 1863/1864 in Ohio.
2. Georgiana Smith - marriage date 2 February 1882 in Newmarket, New Hampshire.
Died in Boston 24 March 1899.
