John Darnall[1] was the younger son of Phillip Darnall and Mary Calvert. He immigrated to Maryland sometime before 1672, likely with his brother, Henry Darnall, where he married Susanna Maria Bennett. They had one known child, daughter Henrietta.[2]
He passed away about 1684.[3] His will was proved 1685; his widow, Susanna Maria Bennett, married Henry Lowe (by contract dated 18 May 1686).[1]
Since John was related to the "proprietary family" (and his brother Henry was an influential councilor), John enjoyed profitable patronage which allowed him to become a large land owner and amass a great deal of wealth. At his death in 1684, he owned nearly 2,000 acres in Maryland, plus land in Virginia and England. His personal estate was valued at 1,159 pounds and included 10 slaves and 10 (indentured) servants.[2]
Marriage date is rough estimate based on birth date of spouse and belief that they were only married a short time before his death in 1684. No record of marriage found.
