Augustus Daughtry was born on his father's (Lemuel Daughtry) place that was located east of Mile Branch and bordered the northside of the Ogeechee River. In 1835, Lemuel Daughtry purchased this tract from James Lanier, executor of the estate of John Lanier. (John Lanier was a son of Benjamin Lanier, Sr. and owned the land that his father purchased through the years since 1770). After his father Lemuel Daughtry died in 1851, Augustus inherited this tract and lived there until 1885, the year he sold it to Robert M. Williamson. I believe that Augustus and his family moved to the Bay Gall area in Bulloch County at this time. In 1892, my great-great grandfather William Henry Parker purchased this tract from Williamson. After Parker's death in 1925, Charlie Daughtry purchased it from the Parker Estate. In 1945, B. F. Clayton sold it to A.B. Edenfield and H.R. Edenfield.
