Biography

Edwin was the fifth child of Joseph and Mary, and was born in 1903 in Murray Bridge, where he lived for most of his seventy five years.
Edwin and his wife, Florence had six children, two of whom, Leslie and Graham died in infancy.
Edwin and Florence were both very fond of music, and when Edwin joined the Murray Bridge Brass Band, Florence loved to see him in his uniform.
Their daughter, Ruth, recalls her Mother saying, He looks so smart and handsome in his uniform. She also loved to hear him play his tenor horn. The band frequently entertained the residents of Murray Bridge with their excellent, rousing concerts.
Ruth recalls that on Sunday mornings when she walked to church with her father, he often talked to her about the theory of music. Ruth feels sure that these impromptu lessons helped to nurture her love of music.
