Arrangements by Drechsler, Brown & Williams Funeral Home. 708-383-3191. 2 Forest Leaves (River Forest, IL) - March 28, 2001. 2 Dorothy Davies Pendill, 100, formerly of River Forest, died March 10 in her apartment at the Beacon Hill Retirement Community, Lombard. She celebrated her 100th birthday last September at a large family party there. 2 Mrs. Pendill was the wife of the late Alpheus Felch Pendill. He was the grandson of James P. Pendill, a prominent merchant, builder, mine owner and four-term mayor of the City of Marquette, Mich. He was also the great-grandson of Alpheus Felch, a governor of, and a United States senator from, Michigan. 2 Mrs. Pendill was born in Oak Park and graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School in 1918 with honors in English literature. She attended the University of Chicago where she majored in political science. 2 She considered herself a homemaker but was active in the community. She was a president of the PTA for Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School in River Forest. She was also a president of the Oak Park-River Forest Infant Welfare Society and was a Gray Lady (volunteer nurse) at Hines Hospital during World War II. 2 Mrs. Pendill was the mother of Barbara (Henry A.) Frost of North Scituate, Mass., and William Grant Pendill of Chicago; grandmother of Peter and Andrew Frost and Richard, George and David Pendill; and great-grandmother of four. 2 Graveside service and interment were in the family plot in Park Cemetery, Marquette, Mich.
