James Davis was born on April 1, 1774 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County, Province of New Jersey, son of William Davis (1754–~1834) and Elizabeth Anna Havens (~1754–~1834).

Served as Lieut. in VA Militia, War of 1812

James (21) married Elizabeth Davis (14) (born on May 10, 1781 in Shrewsbury, New Jersey USA; daughter of Jacob Davis Sr and Mary S. (Davis) Reed) on September 1, 1795 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth, New Jersey.

Death and Burial
James died on June 13, 1851 in Jackson Center, Shelby County, Ohio, United States, aged 77. He was buried in Seventh Day Baptist Cemetery, Jackson Center, Shelby County, Ohio.[4]
