Biography

INFORMATION IS IFFY

Research Notes

Mary (Davis) Parke 1706-1770 Reason This Information Is Correct: John Parke II's wife was named Mary but we don't know her maiden name. She married a Davis after John IIs death. This is according to Susan Avery, Linage Leader in the Parke Family Association. She is therefore Mary (Unknown) Parke Davis

Her birthday is unknown by the Parke Family Society, who have researched this extensively. They do know she was born in Hunterdon County, NJ.

Christening 10 JUN 1702 Reason This Information Is NOT Correct: Since Mary's maiden name is not known, this christening date wouldn't be correct for her. She married a Davis after John Parke IIs death.

Hi Susan, thank you for your message. You are more than welcome to add any missed family members or update their information on wikitree. This line is about our 8th cousins so very distant to me. I have no plans to work on them in the near future as I am a divorced mom and work full time with a house full of kids. Mindy

You have left out several of John Parke, Jr. and Mary's children: In addition to those you have listed, you have left out my ancestor George Parke b. abt. 1731-1733 in Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ, I can provide information on his wife and children. You left out Noah b. 1738 in Frederick Co., VA, You have left out Rachel b. 1750 in Frederick Co., VA. I have information on all of them and their spouses and children and descendants. They are very much part of this line of John Parke, Jr. and Mary.

Please please REMOVE the Davis from Mary's name. It only perpetuates the incorrect assumption that her maiden name was Davis when it is unknown and has been unknown forever! She MARRIED John Davis about 1760 in Rowan Co., NC AFTER John Parke, Jr's death in 1758. THAT is why she appears in the Hampshire Co. VA court records giving John Park III his father's land since his father died intestate. Mary sent her consent for this as John III was the only child to remain in Hampshire Co. All her other adult children AND herself left about 1759 for the Jersey Settlement in Rowan Co., NC - do please put in her second husband John Davis - they were older when the married with adult children from previous marriages so had no children together. This information is a well known fact that doesn't come from ME but from the Parke Society. She is my ancestor and I have looked for years trying to solve her parentage but so far have not been able to. But we do know for SURE is that she was not born a DAVIS!!!

Also she was NOT born in Hampshire Co. VA/WV!!!!!!!! She was born in Hopewell, then Burlington Co., NJ (became Hunterdon in 1714 and Mercer in 1834) PLEASE correct this - this is very wrong. AND she did NOT DIE in Hampshire Co. VA either!!!! She went to the Jersey Settlement, Rowan Co., NC about 1759 and died there about 1779 - so she died abt. 1779 in Rowan Co., NC!!!!!! PLEASE change this as well.

Davis-70865 and Davis-59902 appear to represent the same person because: no sources provided for any of the dates, but same husband and son
