Captain William Davis served with Cheraws District Regiment, South Carolina Militia during the American Revolution.

A Find A Grave: Memorial #59499063 has some narrative about this William's participation in the American Revolutionary War, but additional records suggest that he also served in the War of 1812[1][2][3][4][5] The FindAGrave site also provides a few details about his family constellation. Such memorials are not primary sources.

Service: Captain South Carolina Volunteer Co, St David Parish, Colonel Gabriel G Powell. [6]

For example, that he married Susan Mary Dunham about 1768. They may have had as many as 13 children (enumerated on FamilySearch).

Davis-30861 and Davis-15747 are not ready to be merged because: These appear to be the same person. I wonder if someone can do a bit more research here as some of the details differ a bit.
Davis-30861 and Davis-15747 appear to represent the same person because: Same name, same father, same birth year. Probably some of the wives are wrong.

Davis-20741 and Davis-15747 appear to represent the same person because: One of these profiles is missing a mother, and one missing a father, but they share a sibling, Mary Ann (Davis) Dunnam, who is the daughter of one William's father and the other William's mother. Seems at least plausible that this is the same William double-entered.
