Ruth Davis was daughter of Capt. Dolor Davis of Barnstable, by his wife Margery Willard, sister of the famous Simon Willard Family, [1] was baptized on March 24, 1643/4 at Barnstable. [2][3]
In the will of Dolar Davis, dated September 13, 1672 and proved on July 2, 1673, he bequeaths to his daughter Ruth Hall, ' besides what she hath received from me, a cow which her husband has at this time in his keeping...' [2][3]
She married Stephen Hall on December 3, 1663 at Concord, Massachusetts.[2][4][5][3] They had seven or more children. [6]
Stephen Hall probably came from Coventry, Warwickshire, England and was brother of John Hall ot Medford, Massachusetts, and a nephew of John Hall of Yarmouth, Massachusetts. [7] He was the son of Widow Mary Hall, who came to this country with her two sons. He lived at Concord, Stowe, and Medford, Massachusetts and later at Queensbucke, Connecticut. Stephen Hall Sr. married on December 3, 1663, Ruth Davis, daughter of Dolor and Margery Willard Davis. Her father was in Cambridge in 1634 and was one of the signers of the petition for the setting apart of the town of Groton in 1656. He had previously resided at Barnstable where he died in 1673. He married Marjory, sister of Major Simon Willard. Their eldest child became the wife of Stephen Hall Sr. and mother of Stephen Hall Jr. who was born in 1667, died November 7, 1749. [5]
Ruth died at Plainfield, Connecticut on June 6, 1715. Stephen died there on October 1, 1724, in his 87th year. [8]
Children
Samuel born at Concord on December 8, 1665; resided at Stow, Massachusetts; died there on March 12, 1750. [3][6][9]
Stephen, was of Charlestown; married first Grace, daughter of Thomas and Grace Willis, who died on November 19, 1721; married second Martha Hill; and married third Anne, widow of Joseph Newell. He died on November 7, 1749, aged 82. [1][3][6]
Mary born in Concord June 1, 1677; [3][4][7] married Thomas Steevens, Jr., May 26, 1702. [8]
Elizabeth, born in Stow April 7, 1685; [3][10][7] married Edward Spaulding on October 21, 1708.[8]
Sarah born in Stow June 19, 1688; [3][10] married first, Benjamin Spaulding Jr. on October 21, 170[ ]; married second, William Blogget, on August 18, 1714. [8]
